We just got our professional photos back and I promised that I would post photos as soon as I got them. We had a BIG Chinese wedding (over 400 guests came) and we tried to meld our family traditions with our own aesthetic. We love anything vintage but we didn't want a theme wedding. I designed the bridesmaid's gowns to be a fusion between 1920's Shanghai qi pao (what you might now think of as a Chinese wedding dress) and a wiggle dress from the 1940's. One of my bridesmaids did the artwork on our invitations that we repeated in the program shown and my husband did all the calligraphy. Getting buttoned up by a bridesmaid. The prettiest bridesmaids ever. My Mom. After this picture was taken she started crying. The program, adorned with a beautiful watercolor phoenix. My Dad lifting my veil. My brother is a pastor and he officiated my wedding. Right before the kiss! Smug marrieds. I picked up those vintage shoes while on Spring Break in Miami 5 years ago. I never had an occasion to wear them. They were perfect for my something blue.

Saying a prayer. My sisters and I stayed up making these pew flowers the night before my wedding. We got the flowers from Costco. I made fabric flowers that I tucked in there. They complemented our bouquets nicely and everyone thought the florist made them. This is the tea ceremony. We served tea to our families as a sign of respect. After we drink the tea they give the bride and groom Chinese solid gold jewelry. I put a few pieces back on when I changed my dress later. Our first dance. We danced to "Magic" by Colbie Callait, a nod to Will's taste in music not mine. Taking a breather! Our reception hall threw in a free ice sculpture. Father of the bride dance. We danced to "In My Life" by the Beatles. Like my manacles? We were lucky to find a baker who fit our vision. This was alternating layers of banana cake and chocolate cake with chocolate ganache in between. Does everyone's husband act up during the cake cutting? Goofing off in the photo booth. My last dress. Freedom! No heavy jewelry and no Spanx. Yay! I hope you enjoyed my little presentation! There are more photos on Facebook so you can friend me there if you'd like to see them.

Thanks everyone for looking and the compliments!
Pammy: The cake was yummy! You can't go wrong with chocolate and banana. We ate it for breakfast the morning after. haha. What you see in the photo is layers of styrofoam with fondant and icing over it. One layer was real for the cake cutting. We served our guests sheet cakes that they cut up in the back.
Anne: Thanks! If it was up to me I would have done a lot more DIY but we had over 400 guests so it wasn't possible.

I like that idea! I'll have to keep that in mind for my own wedding (which won't be years from now but it's never too early to pick up on tips, lol). Wedding cakes can be so expensive.
