It is suppose to be 102 tomorrow A heads up about that Maniac movie, there are mannequins. My oldest daughter never played with dolls, she preferred stuffed animals. She always felt like they may be watching her and would come alive. Honestly I never pushed Barbies on her because I was way more "girl power" back then and didn't like the unrealistic image Barbie put off. My mom never left the house without make up on and growing up I use to hear "you look like your sick" when I didn't wear any. I use to be OBSESSED with make up. It is important for me to have my girls feel like they are naturally beautiful with or with out make up. I do wear make up now but not the full face I use to wear and I have even run errands without any at all but not often. Cayla that story is sooooo scary! I would have been a puddle on the floor. The fact that you were so calm is amazing. Maybe it was shock, maybe like you said you just went on autopilot, which ever it was you'd probably make a great ER doctor, handling high stress situations so well. And what a good dog! My dog would have slept and snored through someone breaking in. You know I'm going to be triple checking all of the locks tonight! I wonder if my past experiences are a factor of why I like shows like Law & Order SVU and Criminal Minds, though I haven't watched either recently. I know it sounds morbid but I like shows or movies about serial killers or all around deviant people. There must be something exhilarating, pleasurable, and irresistible about being scared. Maybe it is just my minds way of subconsciously preparing myself how to react if by some awful chance I find myself in real life horror film type situation. Oh Mandy! I love big windows during the day but at night they creep me out so bad. When it's super quite that is when I can hear every little noise. I'd probably have to talk to someone or text the whole time I baby sat. You are a million times braver than I am. I think my disbelief in ghost is more of a choice. It's not that I don't think they can exist, I don't want them to because then I would be afraid of them. I am firm believer that our thoughts give things power. The more you think about something being scary the scarier it is. So by choice I don't want to be afraid of things I can not explain.

Lisa, my mom is OBSESSED with criminal minds! She watches it all the time and even threatens us jokingly that she now knows how to expertly kill us off if she has to.
I think it is extremely interesting to look into the way serial killers think. Criminal minds is amazing, but it does just kind of creep me out because it is a little "wacky".

Mandy that it is too funny about your mom! That definitely sounds like something I would say to my kids too if I haven't already LOL. After telling my daughter to be careful walking to school because there are some real crazy people out there she told me I watched to many cop shows. Perhaps she is right but there really ARE some lunatics out there.

Lisa: It is wonderful that you want to empower your girls to feel beautiful in their own skins. That is what my mother did with me. She never told me I needed make-up but was there to help teach me when I wanted to wear it.
I do pretty okay in stressful situations and while I would love to become a doctor I can't deal with needles or the act of having to sew someone up and cut through their skin. Gah! I just got shivers thinking about it lol. I have no problems with blood but I don't know if I would have the strength or the stomach to be a doctor. Our dog at the time was a wonderful dog. He was usually the laid back chill dog that always minded and we never had any problems with. I miss him something terribly. He passed away three years ago at 11 because he had heart failure. He was the best dog we have ever had. The dog I have now is a pitbull/mixed breed and while I love him to death and he minds for the most part he is a big old chicken. He looks mean but by god you shake a plastic bag and he runs away from you. And heaven forbid you turn on the sweeper because then he running up the stairs and watching from a safe distance. Our little miniature schnauser (I know I spelled that wrong but am too lazy to look up the correct spelling lol) is fiercer than he is.
I too have the same morbid fascination with serial killers or murderers as you guys do. Don't know what service provider you guys have but if you have direct tv they have a channel called investigation discovery that I pretty much watch at least once a day. It is nothing but a channel devoted to crime. My favorite show was Stalked where it would show real victims of stalking and how they overcame their ordeals. It was such a good show because some of the things these women went through were incredibly and there is so little one can do legally about stalking. It is scary to think that someone can stand on your sidewalk in front of your house everyday without anything being done about it until they either threaten you, trespass, or do something else illegal. There are so many loop holes!! Here is one of my favorite episodes...

My daughter went through a too much make up phase in 7th grade but that didn't last very long. We also let her dye her hair bright pink in jr high. Hair eventually grows. When I met my husband his hair was blue. She is in the process of growing some highlights out because she wants her hair to be it's natural color again. I think most people have some sort of fashion regret. I've had some of the WORST hair in history. From a bowl hair cut when I was I kid, to a short "surfer dude" hair cut in 3rd grade (thanks a lot mom for okaying that one), "mushroom" hair, a rat tail, shaved sides (yes shaved), a poodle perm and I even told my husband to shave my head when he was in the Navy (I had my reasons). Cutting and sewing up people is not for me either. My husband pulls out the splinters around here and he does all of the hand stitching too, fabric of course. We have a deal when the kids get sick, if it's below the waist I'll take care of it but if it is vomit then he's the man. Phew, luckily when kids get older below the waist sick rarely ever happens. However I have recently paid my dues in the vomit department, I had Breath of Ireland melting at the time. I didn't care for the scent anyway but now I just can't ever smell it again. A lot of people like that scent I'm sorry about your dog Unfortunately dogs don't have very long lives unlike parrots. Our Boston Terrier is 6 years old and will be a tough act to follow. My kids beg for a cat but one of them is allergic and so is my husband. I'm more of dog person but honestly I don't think we will have anymore pets unless many many years down the road my grand baby fix isn't getting scratched. That is silly about your big dog being such a scaredy cat. My dog runs from the vacuum as well but just doesn't know where to go (no stairs). Schnauzers (auto spell check ) are so cute! I always think if they could talk they'd sound like the Scottish Terrier from Lady and the Tramp. Ya, I give animals accents in my mind, okay I narrate out loud for them too LOL. There are either too many laws or not enough laws. Someone standing in front of my house everyday would definitely creep me out. Now the ice cream man parks everyday in front of my house (I live 2 doors down from a school) and even though that's not creepy he definitely stirs unwelcomed feelings of temptation with in me. Ice cream!!! I can't get the video to play :/ I'm getting "an error occurred, please try again later". Maybe best I don't watch it now since I'm alone....

1. Funniest thing that happened to you in October? 2. Which books have you been reading? 3. Movies you watched in October? 4. Something that made you proud of yourself? 5. Which games did you play? 6. Did you travel anywhere? 7. What new food have you tried? 8. Which songs have you been listening to the most? 9. Favorite products, accessories, clothes, etc? 10. What did you learn? 1. My husband and I are both really involved in the schools here as teachers/volunteers (no kiddos yet), but one of his students' mom ran into us on Halloween! She totally thought I was his kid...super awkward but I haven't let him forget about it yet! 2. The Fault in Our Stars, trying to catch up on month old magazines like "Real Simple". Just pulled out "Skipping Christmas", the book "Christmas with The Kranks" was based on. I read it every year to get me in the Christmas spirit!! 3. Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, The Addams Family Values, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Wreck-It Ralph since that's who we were for Halloween! 4. I have gotten ALMOST all A's this semester and am learning to step back from things that aren't extremely important. It's all about prioritizing! 5. Spot-It (NHL version), one of my favorites! Head's Up on the iPhone, love that one! Any and all word games for iPhone! 6. Traveled to Tampa a couple of times at the beginning of the month for some hockey games! Was in Michigan, my home state, for 2 weeks too! 7. Tried a spicy version of a cross between stir-fry and island style chicken and rice. I hate spicy food but loved this! 8. "By the Grace of God" by Katy Perry...omgsh can't listen to it w/o crying!! The new Avett Brothers album, "Cosmic Love" Matthew Schuler's version from The Voice! 9. New Anthropologie clothes for my b-day, always makes everything better! Loving Fall nail polish colors lately, OPI "You Don't Know Jaques", OPI "Bogota Blackberry", and Zoya "Dree". 10. Learning all about saying "No". These past two months have been REALLY difficult with school and work. Somehow I ended up with four mini part-time jobs (6 hrs here...10 hrs there) and going to school full-time. Like I said in #4, it's about making a list, prioritizing based off of your goals, and eliminating anything in the way! It's a work in progress, but I'm getting there!

I have heard a lot about "The Fault In Our Stars" but I'm such a sap I'm afraid the book will just make me sob like a little girl. Is it worth the potential kleenex build up?
And wow girl I am super impressed with all that you have had on your plate. School and 4 part time jobs would be grueling! Mad respect for your willpower and you are right prioritizing is definitely a good thing.

I have heard a lot about "The Fault In Our Stars" but I'm such a sap I'm afraid the book will just make me sob like a little girl. Is it worth the potential kleenex build up? My daughter just read the "The Fault In Our Stars" and LOVED it! She let a friend borrow, okay she MADE a friend borrow this book and the friend is in love too. She has also read John Greene's "Paper Towns" and "Looking For Alaska". John Green's "An Abundance of Katherines" and "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" are both on her Christmas wish list. My daughter would like books and clothes for Christmas. My 9 year old daughter also wants books. I am completely aware of how lucky we are to have kids who love to read. I will always buy my kids books with out blinking an eye. Okay I take that back, I blinked really hard when my oldest daughter was asking to read "Go Ask Alice" in 6th grade ......

1. My toddler son demanded to be let into my closet to smell my scent shots. He pointed to the words and repeated after me "Candles By Victoria, Sidecar Annie" he then scrunched his nose as he smelled the scent shot and passed it around for us to smell as well. 2. You'd think with my kids being such big readers I would be as well. I did however clean out my HUGE stash of magazines and in the process read a few of those. My stash included Family Fun, Better Homes and Gardens, and This Old House (strange choice since I live in a stucco track house barely over 10 years old lol). Among the magazines were "free" booklets, pamphlets, magazines put out by the grocery store with recipes and such. 3. I actually kept track this month of which movies I have watched, go me! I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Byzantium, The Lone Ranger (too be honest I fell asleep mid way), Zombieland, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Gremlins. 4. Trying to enjoy the moment and each day with out worrying about birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I'm normally a over-planning control freak and try to have a game plan MONTHS in advance. I feel like we made the best of our October and enjoyed Halloween. So now that October is over I'm freaking out LOL! 5. I can't recall playing any games. 6.Fortunately we were able to take two trips out of our area in October. The first trip was a little over an hour away to Apple Hill. We hadn't been in years and my soul needed to see more trees. My teen had the day off and we made our 4th grader play hooky. My husband doesn't have the normal Monday - Friday type of job or even with regular predictable hours so being spontaneous to a degree is how we have to live. The pumpkin farm, also about and hour away (different direction) was our last trip. It was the first time in I can't even remember how long, that the weather was actually cool and we were not sweating. 7.Coffee Crisp wafer bar! My mom went to Canada and brought my family 3 HUGE boxes of peanut free chocolate. Canada labels for allergens better than the United States. There are very few chocolate candies that are safe for kids with nut allergies. We were in chocolate heaven! My daughter and I both agree that the Coffee Crisps are our new favorite "candy bar". Chips Ahoy Candy Blast cookies are on our "safe" list and they are so good! We tried Chef Shamy Gourmet Parmesan Cheese & Basil Garlic Butter, spread on french bread and I have officially had more french bread than I need for the rest of the year. All of the above explains why my pants are cutting off my circulation 8. Apparently I need to read more, play more games, and listen to more music. On our trip up to Apple Hill I made numerous attempts to play one of my old compilation CD's but anytime a song would start my toddler would yell "No like it" over and over until we changed it. Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger was the only song the music critic in the back seat would let play. We told him it was the "robot song". I know know, but at least it wasn't The Wiggles again. 9.My everyday make up routine hasn't included lipstick in awhile. I would wear Aveeno lip balm and lip gloss in its place. I busted out my favorite lip color this month again, Rimmel in the color Kasbah. I pair this with the very cheap and very hard to find lip liner by Jordana in the color Nutmeg. I think I would cry if Kasbah got discontinued, that has been my go to color for years. 10.I learned how to make pulled pork in my crock pot (it doesn't get used as much as it should) and plan on making it again tomorrow

Lisa I am making pulled pork tonight, how cool!! Anyways...
1. Funniest thing that happened to you in October? My pastor called me, my hands were full so I asked my daughter (7 years old) to answer the phone. When he asked for me she told him to hang on a second I was hitting the bottle!! I was hitting the bottom of the jelly bottle!!
2. Which books have you been reading? Shame Off You by Alan Wright, I am teaching the class at church and we read a chapter a week. 3. Movies you watched in October? Not big on TV, but my mother made me watch Due Date, and I have to admit I laughed a lot!!
4. Something that made you proud of yourself? This is something that I kinda indirectly did I guess. My daughter's teacher gave me a note wanting me to know that Kadence would be getting the Good Citizen Award at the next assembly because other children in her class were picking on this girl, wouldn't sit by her, made fun of people that would sit by her, (you get it) and apparently Kadence, teacher isn't sure how it exactly worked but we know that Kadence started talking to the girl and inviting her to play at Gym class with her and her friends, sit together at lunch etc.. Now it seems that everybody has made friends with the girl and Mrs.Cupp feels that Kadence started it all, and if it couldn't get any better the bottom of the note said that Kadence was giving part of her snack money to children that didn't have any (I had no clue) She wanted to let me know what a great job we had done as parents and wished there were more like us. So I had a proud mommy moment lol.
5. Which games did you play? Old maid (Kade's favorite)
6. Did you travel anywhere? nope
7. What new food have you tried? Sushi.... NEVER AGAIN!!
8. Which songs have you been listening to the most? For King and Country-----Proof of your love is my favorite at the moment
9. Favorite products, accessories, clothes, etc? I am new to CBV so this month I have been obsessed with watching review videos (you guys do great)
10. What did you learn I learned that I cannot take on other people's problems, some people don't want help no matter how bad you want to help them living in misery is their normal and I cannot break that bondage for them so in short I learned to walk away and love from a distance.

Lisa: Thanks so much for input about The Fault In Our Stars. I will have to track it down at my local library since I'm old school and prefer to go there than other places lol. Also too adorable that your son wanted to sniff your shots!I am also like you in that the Christmas fever has already set in. I have been plotting buying Christmas gifts for everyone. We will be moving in December so I want to get all my Christmas shopping done before the move so that will be one last thing to worry about.
Shay: Haha that is too funny that your daughter told that to your pastor. And it is so wonderfully that your daughter did that for that other child. Definitely something to be proud of. I've been leary about trying sushi myself, but I'm not a fish person so have not had the courage to try it yet.
1.Last month something that made me laugh was some of the trick or treaters that came to my house. There were several that were funny but there was this little girl she was 4 years old in a princess outfit and her twin sister was in a giraffe costume and they were so talkitive. They were not shy at all. The little princess the first thing she said was, "I'm Marley." then her sister went on a total conversation about everything from our decorations to how many houses she had visited to of course how old she was. They were just too cute. We probably stood on my doorstep for 5 minutes just chatting away like they knew me forever. Too adorable!
2.In October I read The Coldest Girl In Coldtown by Holly Black (she wrote the Spiderwick Chronicles) and I also read Divergent by Veronica Roth which was excellent I can't wait to read the next 2 books and see the movie adaption. And I also started reading The Bible again. I'm only one Exodus though.
3.I can't even begin to count them all lol. I watched so many horror themed movies for Halloween. Let's see I watched Children Of The Corn, World War Z, The Addams Family, The Addams Family Values, Tales From The Crypt, Candyman, Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh, Halloween (the remake), Puppet Master, The Ring, and I can't even recall the rest.
4.Hmmm I'm not sure on this one. I am kind of proud of myself for deciding to get back in touch with my religion again. I never lost my faith but I did sort of put it on the back burner in my mind. So I'm starting to change that and definitely trying to stop saying the Lord's name in vain. It is hard when every reaction is OMG though.
5. I played Halloween Mahjong. I am addicted what can I say?
6. Nope not at all.
7. I tried a Banana Split Blizzard for the first time and I have to say I really liked it. It was super yummy.
8. Come As You Are Cover by Yuna, Bang Bang by Nicole Vega, Acapella by Karmin, All These Things That I've Done by The Killers (Love this song forever!), and Sail by Awolnation.
9. Cheese Its have made a comeback in my home. I hadn't eaten junk food of that nature in years then I saw them at the store decided to buy a box and it was gone in 3 days. Now I have a new box and I love them. I love rediscovering old favorites. Thanks to our Halloween Candy I have re-found my love of Kit Kats. There goes all my exercising. Also loving Benefit's Hervana bhush. It is so flattering!
10. I learned many small universal truths about life. They are all small common sense things that have always been around, but I had never paid much attention to how true they were before. So I'm trying to live every day being grateful for the many blessings I have in my life.

Shayp you should be proud of yourself for raising such a thoughtful young lady. I need to learn more recipes you use in my crock pot, the pork sure was easy. Sadly the only sushi I've ever tried has been prepackaged from the grocery store and I'm pretty sure that was imitation crab. I did like it but the real deal sushi will probably not be in my immediate future. My husband is allergic to shellfish so we don't eat any fish. I miss salmon Cayla moving in December? Excited? Nervous? Moving is always a great time to prioritize what belongings to keep which to toss, donate, or sale. 4 year olds are so cute! I wonder why one twin was a princess and the other was a giraffe? Finding their individuality pretty young. I keep seeing the Divergent books and tried getting my daughter to read them but sometimes I think I'm just an "uncool mom".
