Hey guys! It feels like I haven't been here in forever but it has only been two days. As some of you know, my team and I headed to our state cheerleading competition Thursday. The ride up to Denver was amazing, considering all of the snow we received the night before. We all went out to dinner Thursday night which was delicious. But when we got to our hotel, like ten people got extremely sick! We travel with our poms team as well and a few of their girls were extremely sick too! I survived, over night at least. The next day, or yesterday, we headed to the coliseum at 11 to watch the poms perform. They received 10th, which is awesome; they were only a few places behind from making finals. We performed around 3:30 and our warm up run through went awesome! We got on the mat and the first stunt was perfect. Then when we went to our next stunt, things changed for the worse. All of the stunts went up perfectly, but when my stunt came down (I'm a fly) my foot hit my base's leg. It was fine, but I tried moving to my tumbling sequence and I couldn't move...my ankle felt like jell-o. I hobbled to the back of the mat while everyone continued and one of the spotters carried me to the trainers table. She checked out my ankle and it turned out it was a horrible sprain...I couldn't even put weight on it. Luckily the judges stopped the music and let the team go again later. They had to rework stunts because of my injury. I was shaking and in so much pain! My dad had to carry me around the coliseum. So when my team redid the performance it was textbook perfection! They ended up getting 9th out of 34 teams. We would have gotten 6th but one of the cheerleaders accidentally stepped on a sign, so they would have been in finals. My team placed the highest my high school has in 13 years since they won in 2000.
I wasnt there to see the results because I made my parents leave before we could. We got home safe but that dang stomach bug hit me! I was up all night last night with a 102 degree fever. Since I haven't had the chance to get crutches, I have to crawl around the house so imagine the struggles I had last night...I feel a lot better now but still in pain from my ankle! Well now that I've told my sap story...how was your week? Are you doing anything fun this weekend? Tonight is our towns parade of lights, which usually consists of 200 floats but I'm afraid ice and crutches don't mix.
