Since i suddenly find myself with 10 days vacation i decided to use it wisely by finally painting my new bedroom. the problem though is I'm a terrible painter. I've only painted a few times and i was apparently doing so bad that my father took the roller from me and just paintex the walls for me...and he hates painting. Well now I'm on my own and wad wondering if you guys have any painting tips?

Make sure to use blue tape around windows and and doors so you get nice clean lines! I'm not much of a painter either but I found that it helped (:

Eeek, I wish I had good advice, my husband does the painting. He always uses the blue tape too. Be sure not to take off the tape to early, let the paint dry really well.

Thanks for the advice guys! It took me three days but I finally got it painted. I chose a light bright sky blue. The brand I used was Dutch Boy and the color is December Sky. I'm happy with the results. I am hoping the internet guy comes today. I might try and post some pics for ypu all if i get my net up soon.

As soon as I get around to tidying my new room up a bit I will post pictures for you guys. I have been on Etsy and I think I have a wall decal picked out that I really want to put on my wall. The colors for my room are sky blue, pink, and dark brown so I really like this these two. I kind of like the idea of the blue of my walls looking like the sky and then having this pretty tree "growing" up the wall. Here are the two that I am considering. I just don't know which one I like better though. Thoughts on these? Tree #1 www.etsy.com/listing/157465588/peel-and-stick-kids-nursery-removable?ref=favs_view_5 Tree #2 www.etsy.com/listing/129192379/peel-and-stick-kids-nursery-removable?ref=favs_view_20I know they are super similar but you know it is the little things that make all the difference lol. My last bedroom was more of a paler grey sky blue and I had Japanese cherry blossoms. I loved that room and found it so calming but while I am sticking along the same color lines I want this room to be brighter and more... whimsical? I don't know just more cheerful. I want to decorate my room with cute happy things so that can be my happy place. I also don't know if any of you are Studio Ghibli fans but I was thinking about this little terrarium too. It looks super cute and I love the little Totoro. Do any of you guys shop on Etsy? If so what do you guys usual look for?

I have tree decal on my living room wall it is nowhere as pretty as the trees in the links though. I like the first tree, the one set of to the corner better. It seems more whimsical to me. I LOVE trees and branches ect. I have a cherry blossom wall sculpture I picked up at the flea market hanging in my bedroom. Trees are good for your soul I had to look up Studio Ghilibi...I have seen Ponyo and Kiki's Delivery Service. Lots of big actors (voices) in Ponyo and I SWEAR the wizard in Ponyo reminded me of David Bowie. I have always wanted a terrarium or fairy garden, the possibilities are endless. www.save-on-crafts.com has some neat decor, lots of decor for weddings but they have terrariums, fairy lights, birdcages (another love) ect. www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?id=APARTMENT -always has something unique! Antique stores are a great place to find hidden treasure. I have never shopped on Etsy but do look every now and then. There are so many talented people. Decals are actually something that I have looked for. I wanted yellow paper crane decals to add to my living room wall. I'm adding yellow and grey to my living room. I just some fabric from www.fabric.com and my husband helped me cover an existing canvas we had hanging over our bed and we framed another fabric using a large frame we were not using. Here are the fabrics we used as art in the living room (yellow and grey) and in the bedroom (blue) - I also ordered this fabric to cover a small throw pillow in my bedroom (not sure how yet) I'd love to see pics of your room or ideas you have.

I'm leaning more towards the first tree too. I think it will also go better position wise in my room. Haha the wizard is kind of properly fantastical just like Bowie in the Labyrinth. Thanks for posting those links Lisa, the lights and mercury glass from the first one look so pretty and keep on giving me ideas. Speaking of antique stores my mother and I went to one last week and got a cute bakers rake and so we are planning to go again tomorrow if the weather holds out and my dad said he might want to go with us. We found this great store in our hometown that has so much pretty and unique stuff. Those patterns look so unique and I bet they will make great statement pieces in the rooms. And I think that one fabric would make a pretty pillow cover. After seeing the lights in your last post it inspired me to maybe think of hanging something like this above my bed. What do you think? www.etsy.com/listing/122742324/purple-blue-flower-string-lights-for?ref=favs_view_3 I really love the pink and blue so I was also considering getting these someday and putting them on my end tables by my bed. www.etsy.com/listing/175211660/candle-holder-lantern-unique-vintage?ref=favs_view_1www.etsy.com/listing/162753119/scheherazade-exotic-lantern-moroccan?ref=favs_view_2 They make me wish that Vic sold tea lights so I could put some in them. I wonder if the mini jelly jars would fit or if they would be too big.

I love the flower lights! Your room is going to be like a magical garden The lanterns look they would fit right in and I have actually been drawn to lanterns very similar to these. I'd love if Victoria sold tea lights! I'm always finding the pretties candle holders that only tea lights. I've been tempted to order her votives just not sure of the right spot or container for them. My "style" is probably best describe as Asian/Mid Century Modern/Cape Cod. A mish-mash. I'm trying to make my bedroom more girly.

I have actually thought of the Jeweled Candles! I want to get some shelving in my room first though. I think they would look pretty if I had a few shelves on my walls with some books and then with a pretty candle on the end beside them. Books and candles...describes my life pretty well lol. I so want her to make tea lights, but I don't want to suggest it because I know they are busy enough as it is. The first thing I ever ordered from CBV were the votives. I still have a few. They burn really well and the ones we got (Monster MAsh, Witch's Brew, Leesha, and Amish Quilt) all had really good scent throws. In fact I got some better throws from them than I have some of my 8oz jars. The problem like you said is finding something to melt them in. We have some glass holders for votives that we melt them in. When it gets all the way to the bottom we just stick the whole glass in the freezer over night then usual with a butter knife we can pop out the wax cleanly. Then you can just take the wick out of the leftover wax and then throw the rest of the wax into the warmer. That way you don't waste a single bit of the cbv goodness. Again I turn to Etsy for things but here are some candle holders that might interest you. You have a cherry blossom decal here is a cherry blossom candle holder and it is hand painted so it looks crafty. www.etsy.com/listing/158323602/hand-painted-pink-cherry-blossom-candle?ref=favs_view_17

I can't believe how talented that the owner of that Etsy shop is! I love stained glass and just kept swooning over all of her pieces. I need to win the LOTTO!
