Hi I’m new to the board and to candles by victoria
I need help. I’m preparing my first order ever and I have several questions. First, my living room is 32x14 fts I wonder if a 9oz jar would be enough to scent that room. I was thinking of getting two 9oz sample packs because I don’t wanna bought a bigger candle and not like it (I’m the kind of person that will finish a candle even if he/she doesn’t like it) I have a good sense of smell so is probably that I will smelled it without a problem, but my husband’s nose is more standard. So what you thing, will a 9oz be enough for that room (biggest in the house). We both like floral/sweet feminine scents if that make sense (like Victoria secrets Amber Romance, Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake or Hugo Boss Deep Red). I made a list of my probably scents and I need your opinion:
1. Caramelized Pralines
2. Satsuma
3. Luna (type)
4. Bathtime with Pooh
5. Vanilla after Dark (these one sounds awesome)
6. Cleopatra’s Closet
7. White peach and silk blossom
8. Kimono Silk
9. Cinnamon Donuts
10. Baked Apple Strudel
Those are the 10 I’m almost sure I want (but i take suggestions) and for the other two I have Barefoot in blue jeans, tokio spring, bhushing peaches, peace, Rock that Vanilla, Honeysuckle, Honeysuckle Jazmin or maybe leaves (I’m almost sure that I will not like leaves but a lot of people seems to like it). So what is your opinion of these scents, which one have you tried? Do these are good for a floral/sweet scents lover?
Thanks in advance
PS: My English is a little weird because I’m still learning it.

I'm fond of the 16 oz Mason Jar, 16 oz Cylinder Candle, and 16 oz Designer Bowls myself and I've ordered scents (I've previously had a scent shot in) in those jars and that bowl too. For a large room I would feel more confidant in that size. You should receive at least 140 hours of burn time from a 16 oz candle. I think you'll want to look for the scents with a big throw. By "throw" we mean that the scent can be smelled for a good distance.
Please remember that trying out new scents with Scent Shots, Muffin Melts and even Soap Shots are very sensible ways to learn about new scents. That is what most of us do when trying new scents. You just need a melt warmer for Scent Shots and Muffin Melts. Victoria sells them under "Melts". I love using silicone cupcake cups to melt my scent shots in. That's a great way to scent a room too. While you might use a quarter scent shot in a bathroom, you would use a half scent shot for your large room. You could even have a warmer plugged in at each end of the large room, use the same scent and really have a fabulous scent experience in that room!
I am very happy with the soap shots I have ordered as they require NO curing time. I use them at a bathroom sink and love they way they feel on my hands (love the bath soaps called Chunk n'Dunk too!).
Ask questions if that was confusing!
I'm melting a scent shot in Satsuma now.
Speaking of citrus scents, I ordered a scent shot and soap shot in Volcano (Fruits). I was so impressed that the next order included Volcano Chunk N' Dunk Soap, Body Spray, Solid Perfume, and Designer Bowl Candle. I forgot to order a Room Spray! I plan on it being my August-September Scent. I like Volcano better than Satsuma. I still have some citrus bakery scents to try, but this appears to be my favorite citrus scent so far. I have been here just a year.
You need Caramalized Pralines, Cinnamon Donuts and Baked Apple Strudel for Fall! I have fallen in love with Pecan Pie which to me is Caramalized Pralines amped up. I very recently came to love Caramel Coffee Cake. You might try something small for Baked Apple Strudel but feel confidant about ordering candles in these other four scents! Victoria has decorative versions of Caramelized Pralines and Cinnamon Donuts. Burn them over a plate to catch overspill from the decorative wax top.
Pink Cupcake is a bakery scent you are very likely to enjoy in your kitchen. I'm going to order a Pink Noel candle soon (without a scent shot tester first) and it might be a pretty bakery scent for you too.
You might love Givenchy's Hot Coutour! Lily of the Valley was my fastest curing candle (3.5 weeks), a lovely sweet floral! Southern Nights has been my Summer floral favorite. I love Night Blooming Jasmine and like Jasmine and Honeysuckle, but I'm not wild about my Honeysuckle Jasmine Soap Shot (I thought I would be). I've never had your other candidates for sweet floral perfumey scents.
I suggest you wait until July 1 to place a big order. We usually learn about any upcoming Sale by the first of the month. The code CBVictoria will give you 10% off any other time. If your cart is ready and you enter a sale code and complete the purchase within a few hours of a sale beginning, your order will arrive in a happily short time. If yours is the last sale order placed, your box will be packed last and the wait could be three weeks easily. If you order outside a sale, your order will arrive satisfyingly fast.

Bath time with pooh and cinnamon donuts are both great scents! My recommendation is to try a tart warmer and scent shots. I have found the scent shots have the absolute best throw. They are only $2 so they don't make you feel bad about spending money on a scent that you don't end up liking!

Welcome to the boards! Like the other ladies have mentioned i recommend that you might want to start with the cheaper scent shots or soap shots to try scents out before committing to the candles.
Luna type is a very romantic soft floral. I'm not big on florals but Luna is so pretty and nice. Satsuma is a great citrus scent that is light and fresh but sweet so it doesn't have any tartness to it. White peach and silk blossom is a very clean and fresh feminine body wash kind of scent. it is pretty strong on the scent throw so it would be good for your living room. Baked Apple Strudel smells like warm apple pie filling to me. it is the most authentic apple pie fragrance in my opinion
opinion.

Thanks to all. I have never use a melt warmer; how that works? I imagine that the wax may not disappear because is not hot enough to evaporate it. How many times can you rewarm a scent shot before you have to toss it? Is the smell too different? I suppose that the intensity and maybe the undertones may be a little different between burning and melting a scent. I had read some peoples telling that they like a smell in scent shot and not so much in candle form and the opposite. The only downsize I really see with scent shots is that if I fall in love with one I may have to live without it for months (because I only go to USA 2-3 times a year) but money wise it does make sense to try the scents first. I may try more scents then and in December I can order the ones I really liked in candle form. AbbieJolie thanks for the recommendations!! Volcano, Pecan pie, Givenchys Hot Coutour, Night blooming Jasmine and Lily of the Valley also sounds great. Thanks!! And I will waith to July, maybe a sale is on the way (I go to the USA in the last weeks of August so I do have time)

What may we call you, fuuhou? Oh good, you are not too far from the Texas home of Candles by Victoria! I think I recall some mention by Victoria of International Shipping. She did say she didn't think it was cheap but it is possible. I think I recall that correctly. You can send a note to Victoria through the CBV Site (look for Contact Us) and ask. You might make lighter weight scent shot orders from home and candle orders when you are here in the United States. I see you have a Texas address for shipping and I hope you can ask a stateside relative or friend to receive your packages. When you open a box, be prepared with scissors to cut through all the bubble wrap protecting your candles! They are really well wrapped! I've never received a broken jar or bowl. There are lots of CBV reviews on YouTube! Just type in CBV and the scent you wonder about and there is probably a video to tell you about it!
Warmer discussion: Were they Victoria's Scent Shots that you heard sometimes differed from candles, or another company? The only thing like that that has happened to me in a year was a great Honeysuckle Scent Shot followed by a candle that still hasn't cured to smell as great. I wouldn't expect that to be more than a one out of five hundred purchases risk.
The Scent Shot or Muffin Melt or decorative melt doesn't evaporate, but I expect the scent to last through two very long melt periods (or four short ones? Funny that I've never thought about it.). My Satsuma Scent Shot from yesterday still has scent but it never had a strong throw! I will add another quarter of the scent shot to it to extend it tonight. When I think it is done, I let the wax cool and harden and pop it out of my silicone cupcake form and throw it away. You can freeze the removable cup from the Scent Warmer and get the frozen wax out the next day, but that's not my preference. I do expect the intensity or throw to be consistent between my Volcano Scent Shot and Volcano Candle, because that has been my experience with 99% of my other scents so far. I hope some more experienced melters will discuss these points too.
Curing is a very interesting difference with Candles by Victoria. As I said my fastest curing candle was Lily of the Vally at 3.5 weeks. My first Southern Nights Candle arrived smelling wonderful. Usually I find my Fruits and Florals take perhaps six weeks to cure. Bakery Scents make some people happy in two weeks, but for me the average is six months at the outside range. So I've been ordering Fall and Holiday scents since June. I'll pull out my stash of those candles later and give you a sniff report.
Victoria has just changed the wax she uses for melts (all the Scent Shots, Muffin Melts and decorative melts) and this is likely to cure faster than we are used to! I had never used a Melt Warmer before either .
We haven't discussed wick trimmers yet!

You can call me Fuu; that’s not my name; just my internet name. I use to be a big fan of Japanese anime and manga especially Magic Knight Rayearth. That is the name of one of the main characters. In English you would generally see it written like Fuu hououji; but I have always written it with the extra H. It is supposed to mean “Wind of the Phoenix Temple” I have 12 years with the same internet name. I’m Mexican and I live a few hours of the border with Texas. I have an address there so I do all my internet purchase and then just pick them up when I go shopping to the states. One advantage is that most of the curing time will occurred far away from me so I will not be tempted. I will definitely get a warmer so I can try different scents. You three have tempted me About the difference between SS and candle the one I have mostly read is that after you use a SS the candle may not appear as strong to you because a SS has a stronger throw. But maybe the curing time as something to do with it.

I'm glad to see another anime fan on the boards! Has your paypal straightened up or is it still giving you problems?
