to remove little black crumbs that fall into the melt pools of your candles. I found last night that the eye of a bobby pin is the perfect size to grab little bits of wick and now my Honey I Washed the Youngin's is de-speckled.

That's a really good idea!! I usually just use the tip of my scissors, then wipe off the wax, LOL. I was wondering if anyone has a wick trimmer? I'm thinking of getting one soon.

I use the top of scissors as well or the end of the Tupperward Orange Peeler (that you always win). That works perfect. I have also used a Q-tip carefully to get out those big black hunks....yuck!
I have 2 wick trimmers and I love them. Its easier once you get down towards the bottom of the jar. With Scissors I find I have to go in on an angle and it just gets akward toward the bottom of the burn.
My husband just sharpened my wick trimmers and scissors for me the other day.

Katie - I have a wick trimmer also, much easier than scissors plus it holds onto the cut piece so it doesn't get into the wax. I like it.

i usually use a popsicle stick to get them out. but I use a nail cutter to trim my wick and that keeps the black bits from falling in too.

I use a tissue on a totally cooled wic. I grab the black hunk and then twist slightly, removes the hunk and if you need to still trim the little center of the wick you can! Thanks for all the great ideas! (having little black spots in my wax drives me nuts) HUGS!

I use tweezers (the medical kind for removing stitches, etc) they are longer than the normal hair tweezers and I just pluck all that yuckiness out of my wax. Can't stand it messy!
