Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition.

Ok, not that anyone has time to really think about these things right now. (haha) I thought I'd post some things on Healthy living tips. Its never too late to start 1. Set a goal of trying one new fruit or vegetable every week 2. Keep a bowl of fruit on your desk at work 3. Switch from ice cream to frozen yogurt 4. Substitute sweet potatoes for regular baked potatoes or fries. You'll get more Vitamin A. 5. Get more fiber. Add canned beans or a handful of nuts to your salad. 6. Take the stairs, not the elevator. 7. Don't e-mail your office mate. Walk down the hall and deliver the message personally. 8. Get a dog. Commit to walking 10 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night. 9. Buy a soccer ball. Kick it with your kids or a neighbor. 10. Buy shoes at the end of the day when your feet are more swollen from use. I like how the last three... include SHOPPING! LOL Hugs, Summer

This post today comes by way of one our candle board members "Theresa". She sent this poem to me to share with all of you. Its by "Rainer Maria Rilke" and its just lovely. Hope everyone enjoys this and thank you so very much Theresa! You are so appreciated Hugs, Summer Here's the german version of it Liebes-Lied Wie soll ich meine Seele halten, daß sie nicht an deine rührt? Aus: Neue Gedichte (1907) And here the english translation How shall I hold on to my soul, so that it does not touch yours? How shall I lift it gently up over you on to other things? I would so very much like to tuck it away among long lost objects in the dark in some quiet unknown place, somewhere which remains motionless when your depths resound. And yet everything which touches us, you and me, takes us together like a single bow, drawing out from two strings but one voice. On which instrument are we strung? And which violinist holds us in the hand? O sweetest of songs. Rainer Maria Rilke New Poems: c. 1907 (tr. Cliff Crego)

So, here I sit on Christmas Eve. (well 3pm eastern time) And I'm thinking, how do I find the words to tell everyone here on the board how much their love and caring and generosity and kindness has meant to me. I remember all the prayers and warm words of hope and encouragement. I remember all the laughs and good times and nice things said. I remember the love filled words by everyone when I was nominated member of the month. I was so flattered, and at the same time I wondered what I did do deserve so much praise when i felt I had done so little. To this day, I try to live up to the wonderful inspiring words that were bestowed upon me. I hope I did in at least some little way. This past year has really been rough for me. I was in an abusive relationship last year and barely survived the trauma and the move. I truly didn't want to go on at that point, however my only thought was that my kids needed their mom. If it wasn't for them.. I don't know what would of happened. I spent several months severely ill before i moved back to TN and to live with my parents at the end of last year. I never got better. This illness literally took over my life. For months the doctors did tests, blood work, specialists etc to try to figure out what was making me so ill. Then early this year, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I'm a fighter and I just knew I could "get better" if i did everything... meds, physical therapy, specialists, treatments etc. I had good and bad days... mostly bad.. thru the summer things just went down hill from there. See I was already dealing with a medical condition called Pseudotumor Cerebri. Basically my body produces too much spinal fluid, which causes massive pressure headahces, vision problems, dizziness, optic nerve swelling, etc. I have regular spinal taps to drain off fluid 3-4 times a year. I'm ok with that. AND im not telling you this so you will feel sorry or bad for me. I'm telling you because you're all friends and I want you to know 'me'. So since summer time, I've been to specialist after specialist to see if any of them could do anything for my fibromyalgia that my primary doctor isn't already doing. The answer was no. and no again, and no. There are days I can't get out of bed without being in so much pain that I'm in tears, I don't have too many of those but i suffer alot on a daily basis. I could go into details, however I don't feel its something that I need to 'push' onto anyone. I figure if you dont know anything about the disease, there is always google. BUT to get back to the important part, how to thank my friends, how do i show them how important they have been to me. First of all, I'm a Youtube fanatic. I really enjoy doing videos of anything and everything.. I've recorded many over the summer but when it comes to editing and posting them, my condition has taken the joy out of that for me. I love twitter... its like having a whole other family in your life. I have many wonderful support people on there, and my favorite people in the make up community.. and the very special people I order many things from.. Victoria (my only candle lady), Elizabeth (sudsnsass) Lauren (sunbasilgarden) Firefly soaps.... but I found I couldn't keep up with that also. My medical condition was getting worse, and after many months of fighting everything, depression kinda snuck up on me... SO I picked the one place that made me the happiest, and gave me an outlet to be a kind, caring, loving friend to anyone who needed one. So here I am on The Pouring Pot candle boards. And along the way, I've met some wonderful people, have had some of the most wonderful experiences, and basically have enjoyed my 'candle' family. Because If i had to give up all of my addictions but one. I will still always have my candles. Its relaxation, love, friendship, heart warming, invigorating and a sense of well being in a jar. So what do I now say to all of you who put a smile on my face every day....I've told you this story so that you can understand the depth of how much you mean to me... please dont feel bad or have pity for me. There are so many others much worse off than I am.. but instead know in your heart that your friendship is golden to me. that those of you I've had personal interaction with outside of the candle board, I'm so appreciative and thankful for you. For all of you who post msgs every day about anything, I'm glad you do. It gives my mind an outlet and yet more reason to enjoy what you have to share. It's really so much fun, sharing our love of candles with each other. Every person brings something unique and wonderful to the table. But isn't it amazing how much involved we have become in each others lives. I think to myself, I've got the best family in the world. My candle family will never let me go one day without a light beckoning me at the end of the tunnel... For this I'm thankful. I'm proud. And I pray that each and everyone of you has a safe and happy holiday season. I wish for you all a happy & healthy new year. Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates this holiday. I have so much to be thankful for... For you all are my blessings that last the whole year thru. I might not be posting much here (this thread) till the beginning of the year, unless I come upon something wonderful to share. Feel free to leave something you would like to share. Know that at mass tonight every single one of you will be in my prayers Merry Christmas.

Summer, that was beautifully written. I am fairly knew to the boards and did not quite understand what was wrong but knew you always had doctors appointments. You are an amazing woman to overcome all of this for your kids. May God bless you and your family this coming year. I enjoy reading more of your quotes and poems that you have been posting, as I have really enjoyed them. Take care!
